How Many More Must Die?

Kenneth Cain, writes a scathing editorial in The Guardian, "How Many More Must Die," which quite precisely and devastatingly blames the knowing inaction of Kofi Annan, who seemingly has made a UN career of turning a blind eye to evil.

WARNING: Do not follow the link if you are squeemish, the accounts of brutality that he directly could have helped prevent or stop are graphic and horrifying. Decency prevents me from excerpting, other than Cain's conclusion:
Annan is not personally corrupt or incompetent. But the UN cannot have failed more catastrophically when the stakes have been highest. If he does not lose his job for that, then for what? And if not now, when?
